The overall inspiration for this piece is loosely based on one of the 7 deadly sins, greed. In Greek mythology, the Hippopodes are an allegorical creature with the lower body of a horse and the upper body of a man and are often associated with greed. I have replaced the human head with a frog's, and frogs often symbolize greed, abundance, and wealth. The tattoo on the upper right arm is also symbol of greed. The crown represents wealth and power. The rifle also represents power and control. The fist full of money, obviously wealth. The patterned extrusions from the head are a play on extended horns, often associated with evil or the devil, that turn into a jester's hat, hinting at a fool and his money. The trampled lilacs under the hoof symbolize purity, innocence, tranquility and bliss.
