Digitally Designed / Traditionally Printed Bugs
In this series of relief prints, I explore creating the designs digitally (Adobe Illustrator) and cutting each block on 1/8" plywood on the Glowforge. This plate is mounted on another 1/8" plywood block as a backing for sturctural support. The matrix is inked and printed traditionally.
By designing each bug in a vector-based format, it allows me to rescale them as needed. Each image can be printed individually or grouped and tiled together with other images. They are based on a 2" and a 3" grid system. The largest grouping includes 43 bugs on a 4' x 4' block.
