This project was an experiment to combine my graphic design and computer skills with my fine art work.

The first challenge was to design a series of characters in Adobe Illustrator based primarily on circles. Simplification was the primary goal while still giving the character a personality and emotional expression.

These designs were then prepared for output on a Glowforge, a laser engraver/cutter. Color separation plates were made for the traditional relief printmaking process.

Overall, I would describe this character as having a light hearted, fun, innocent look and feel.

Next, I wanted to create a high contrast between the computer generated, geometric artwork and the more hand worked engraving lines. I also chose a contrasting style, covering the face with tattoos, communicating a darker, edgier feel.
