Description: This print was my final project in Engraving I at Emporia State University, taught by master engraver James Ehlers. We had to reinvision a Dürer masterwork using contemporary cartoon characters. During my undergraduate studies, I wrote a research paper on this work, so it was an obvious choice.

Shown on the left is the copper matrix used to print the image. A burin, a.k.a. graver, was used to carve into the copper. Next the plate was inked, ink wiped off the surface, leaving ink in the carved lines. Finally, it was ran through a printing press, applying heavy pressure to pull the ink out of the carved lines onto the paper.
